Bauer and father, William F. Collier. Her father died when she was just a girl and she helped her mother in many ways with her brother, Gordon and sister, Valerie. She was an excellent student and graduated from Lakewood HS June 1943 and attended Western Reserve University (Flora Stone Mather College). She worked many years for the Gear Company of America (GEARCOA). Through the Christian Science church, Veen participated in the Monitor Youth Forum where she made many life-long friends including her husband Wayne B. Cahoon, Jr.

Veen was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and role model to all who knew her. She was known for her calm manner, her kind heart, and quick wit. She and Wayne spent much of their time as participating members of the performing arts in the greater Cleveland community. Veen shared her lovely voice for many years with the Rocky River Community Chorus and The Cleveland Yachting Club Chorus. She was an accomplished tap dancer and regularly surprised even her closest friends with her many varied talents. As a quilt artist, she created magnificent pieces and exhibited her considerable skills in many shows throughout the Cleveland area. Veen also used this talent to make hundreds of quilts which she regularly donated to those in need. She and Wayne were active members of the Lakewood Historical Society and The Cleveland Yachting Club.

Veen is survived by her nieces and nephews, and their families: Deborah Tonkin and husband Edward, Pamela Heineman and husband Robert, Richard Fitzsimmons and wife Carol, and Jeff Fitzsimmons and wife Abby. Veen is preceded in death by her husband, mother, sister, and brother; Wayne B. Cahoon Jr., Virginia E. Collier, Valerie Fitzsimmons and husband James Richard, Gordon T. Collier and wife Barbara J. Collier. She loved all her family and friends dearly.

Per her wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be private. Expressions of sympathy or contributions in her honor may be made to the Lakewood Historical Society, 13314 Detroit Road, Lakewood OH 44107 or the First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1460 Wagar Road, Rocky River OH 44116.
