Sue was a strong, intelligent, and independent woman. She was determined to pursue life to the fullest despite significant health issues. Sue was a 1967 graduate of Defiance High School in Defiance, OH, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Toledo. She later earned her teaching certificate and a Master's degree in Education, Research and Testing. She enjoyed teaching and loved that "ah-ha" moment when a student grasped a math or science concept. She began her teaching career at Evergreen High School teaching High School Science from 1983 to 1987. Sue taught science to incarcerated youth for the Department of Youth Services from 1988-1991. She taught chemistry and physics at Maple Heights High School for 17 years retiring 2010. She was a field education supervisor for Ashland University from 2011-2020, evaluating student teachers in the classroom. after her retirement.

Sue held leadership positions in both the State and National Science Teachers Association and enjoyed planning and attending the organization's national meetings. She also thoroughly enjoyed being a docent at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo from 2012-2021.

Sue loved to travel, was a voracious reader, and a skilled cross-stitcher. She was an active member of Divinity Lutheran Church in Parma Heights. She was involved in her church's Stephen Ministry and Church Council.

Sue will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by two daughters, Victoria L. Wachendorf (Brian) of Lincoln, Ill., and Julie Anne Bellomy (Lenny) of North Royalton, OH.; five beloved grandsons, Dylan and Xavier Bellomy, and Justin, Evan, and Logan Wachendorf. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia L. Christensen (David) of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Karen K. Norton (Michael) of Traverse City, Mich., as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
