Scott E. Coy was born on September 16, 1930, in Kent, Ohio. He was raised in Lakewood and graduated from Lakewood High School. He served his country in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Gearing. Scott was a Field Service Engineer, worked for Union Carbide and retired from Dravo-Wellman. He was a longtime resident of Avon Lake where he and his wife Joyce raised their family.
Scott was a member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, and 70-year member of Masonic Lodge #804. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and a Lifetime member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). He also enjoyed his Cushman scooter and belonged to the Lorain County Vintage Scooter Club. He always looked forward to travelling to the U.S.S. Gearing reunions with Joyce. Above all, Scott loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Scott leaves his loving wife Joyce (nee McEvoy) of 66 years; his devoted children, Barbara Jensen (Jerry), Thomas (Carolyn) and James (Laura); his loving grandchildren, Megan, Andrea, Justin, Kimberly, Kory, Grace, and Paige; 6 great-grandchildren; and his dear niece, Mary Ellen Ott. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Betty Gates and brother-in-law James McEvoy.
