Sally Zimmerman

Sally A. Zimmerman, 83, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She was born February 11, 1939 in Elyria, Ohio to parents Michael and Julia (nee Petsko) Barron.

Sally was a vivacious woman who enjoyed learning new things, enjoying crocheting, canning, jelly making and antique refinishing throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and close friends. Sally worked in healthcare, retiring from the radiology department of Mercy Health Hospital in Lorain, OH at the age of 70.

Sally’s joy and true calling came from helping others, and especially guiding the younger generations in their spiritual journey. She was heavily involved in her community and several local catholic churches throughout her life and was instrumental in the creation of the youth group (SEARCH) at St. Joseph Church in Avon Lake. She was later a Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony Church in Lorain. Sally found comfort in following her Lord’s footprints and leading others on their path of doing the same.

Sally is survived by her beloved children William Zimmerman Jr. (Melissa Seljan), Michelle Zimmerman, Sharon Coy (former spouse Brian), Robert Zimmerman (Lisa); grandchildren Christin (Erik), Rachel (James), Lauren (Dave), Billy, Brittany, Samantha, and Ben; great grandchildren Brielle and Brynleigh; and dear sister Julie Hassel (Lyle). She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Shirley Downs.
