Roberta J. Zacharias, 83, of Avon Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home in the evening on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. She was born September 15, 1938, in Berea, Ohio, to parents Robert and Emma (nee Nemeth) Dahn.
Roberta married her love Richard Zacharias in 1957, and they settled in Avon Lake with their growing family in 1960. They became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church that year and sent all their kids through school there. Roberta worked for many years at the Snack Bar in the bowling alley at Aqua Marine and would even bring her homemade soup to work for the patrons to enjoy. She was patient and kind and will be fondly remembered for her wit and sense of humor.
Roberta retired from Aqua Marine when grandchildren were added to her family so she could spend time with them. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, camping, calling and playing bingo, and crafting, including helping her grandchildren with their numerous school projects. And as wonderful as grandchildren were, Roberta's pride and joy were her great grandchildren, and she was thrilled to welcome each of them into her family.
Roberta is survived by her loving children Richard Zacharias, Jr. (Deborah), Gregg Zacharias (Sandy), Lynne Baker (Charles, Jr.), Deborah Young, and Todd Zacharias (fiancée Kate Forrer); cherished grandchildren Richard Zacharias III, Timothy Zacharias (Cassandra), Andria Zacharias (Mike Kromer), Michelle Jones (Adam), Matthew Mudry (Jessica Norman), Charles Baker III, Chad Baker, Stacie Zacharias (John Alflen), Todd Zacharias, Jr., Taylor Zacharias, Warren Enders, and Brett Enders; treasured great grandchildren Austin, Elliott, Felicity, Graham, Lucas, Logan, and Sophia; dear sister Carol Maxfield; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 40 years Richard Zacharias; grandson Thomas Young; and brother Robert Dahn, Jr.
