Patricia A. Dreifke

Patricia Ann Dreifke (Monkosky), of North Royalton passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022. She succumbed to a brief illness after 88 years of exceptional health which she attributed to a low salt diet and a glass of wine every evening.

Patricia was born June 22, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, to George and Emma (Duranko) Monkosky. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Dorothy Wahl and Jayne Telzrow. Pat was a proud graduate of Holy Name Catholic High School in Cleveland, Ohio, class of 1951. She kept in touch with her friends from Holy Name for the remainder of her life. On June 20, 1953, she married Ronald C. Dreifke at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Independence, Ohio. Together, they welcomed four sons: Mark (Anita), David (Anne), Daryl (Christine), and Dean (Laurie).

Despite, or perhaps because of, being surrounded by all those men in her life, Pat was a true lady and always looked her best. You usually saw her in freshly applied lipstick and decked out in her jewelry. When she finally had girls in the house (in the form of her granddaughters) she enjoyed every minute by spoiling them with curlers in their hair and matching nightgowns every Christmas. Even in her 80's, when she became "GG Pat" to her great-grandchildren, she loved to hold the younger "doll babies" and color with her eldest great-granddaughter.

After staying home to raise her four boys, Pat went to work at Memorex as an administrative assistant. She retired in 1993 but used those typing skills to keep in touch with her widespread family and friends through email and eventually on Facebook. She and Ron also loved to travel around the country and abroad. Her eyes would twinkle whenever she had a souvenir to show and an accompanying story to share. She shared her boys' love of Cleveland sports and NASCAR racing. She was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the parish at St. Albert the Great in North Royalton for the past 25+ years. Her faith was a source of deep comfort to her until her final breath.

Her family remembers her most for always having a quick retort or silly turn of phrase, like waking you up in the morning by chirping "Uppy, uppy, in the guppy!" She was a heck of a cook, card player, and Christmas cookie baker. She took pride in her immaculate home and being a gracious host to everyone who walked through the door. She made everything fancier just by being there.

She leaves behind a widespread family including her sons, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren who will honor her legacy by always putting family first. The Dreifke family would like to thank the staff of the Cleveland Clinic and the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for their care and kindness through the years and until her final breath. The family will celebrate Pat's life privately with a Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church followed by entombment at All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Albert the Great Church,6667 Wallings Rd., North Royalton OH 44133 or Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd, Akron, OH 44333.
