Norm Kirby, 83, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022.
Norm was the beloved husband of his late wife, Pat (nee Crystal); cherished father to Connie Ramser (Mark) and Judy Vanderwyst (Scott); grandfather to Mckenzie, Nicholas, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Mark, and Michael; dear brother to Elberta, and Timothy; and uncle to Jimmy, Tim, Cory, Robin David (deceased), and Nikki.
Norm was extremely devoted to his family, always looking out for their best interest and safety. He was very unselfish and would never miss a chance to be of help.
He was also devoted to his country and served aboard the USS Kearsarge CVA33 as a landing signal officer from 1956-1960.
Norm's career began as an electrician and evolved into sales and management, but his love was being a pilot. He was a very respected flight instructor for many years. He also loved boating and camping with his wife in the Catawba area and Mohican.
All who knew Norm understood he could fix or build almost anything, including the home he had resided in since 1973. In his younger years he loved to rebuild and restore classic automobiles and also loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He had strong Tennessee roots and a passion for the southern way of life and old-time country music.
Norm's 13 year journey without his wife, Pat, was difficult. He longed for the day when he would see her again and be in the presence of God. He will be deeply missed by countless people who loved him.
His funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 27 at 1pm at Grace Church, 7393 Pearl Rd., Middleburg Hts., OH 44130. Interment will follow at Strongsville Cemetery. Friends and family will be received for a reception after the cemetery service.
