Marilyn Rae Belski

With profound sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Marilyn Rae Belski (nee Zinchak), age 67 of Lakewood, Ohio on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Peter Zinchak, she was the devoted wife of Stephen Belski; loving mother of Tricia (John) Cardilino and Steven Belski; beloved step-grandmother of Devon and Spencer Cardilino; cherished grandmother of her twin 3-year-old grandsons, Dexter and Colton Cardilino; dear sister of Christine Haverly; and dear cousin, niece, and friend to so many more. Let's not forget her grandpuppies Tucker, Molly and Charlie.

Marilyn was born on April 23, 1954, to Theresa (nee Wojnar) and Peter Zinchak. She grew up in Lakewood, OH, but as a self-proclaimed tomboy, Marilyn loved visiting her family farm in Pennsylvania, climbing trees, playing in the creek, and being with her many cousins.

Marilyn loved to dance, and in 1970, at the Mad Hatter in Cleveland, she met the love of her life, Stephen Belski III. She married her devoted husband, Steve, on April 23, 1978. They loved to travel to tropical destinations and spend time in the sun.

Marilyn worked full time while raising her two children. She pushed through gender stereotypes and was very successful as a salesperson and account manager in the office supply industry for 40 years.

Marilyn was a force of nature well-known for her generous and loving personality, passion for 60's and 70's music, pride of her children and grandbabies, vibrant sense of style (tie-dye especially), wonderful cooking, and stunningly beautiful blond hair and green eyes. She loved to cook and entertain. Everyone looked forward to her famous stuffed cabbage and cabbage and noodles. She will be remembered as an extremely hard worker, fun loving casino slot player, crossword puzzle aficionado, excellent bowler, competitive card & Upwords player, polka dancer, theater-goer, great lover of parties, and a true friend. She was just so much fun to be around!

Marilyn loved her Lakewood home. After moving in to be a caretaker for her mother who suffered from Alzheimers, she and her family remained in the home she grew up in. She never lived anywhere else but Lakewood, OH.

Marilyn loved all holidays, especially Christmas. Every year she would search for the "Griswold" family Christmas tree (there will forever be sap stains on the living room ceiling!). Christmas Eve was a special tradition that everyone anticipated, especially the delicious Polish meatless dinner and White Elephant exchange. She carried this tradition over from her parents - a party on Christmas Eve where all were welcome and all were family!

Marilyn never met a stranger and was a great friend to all. She was the best advice giver and always knew the right thing to say. She loved her family fiercy. She was so proud to be a mother and a grandmother; it was her true passion in life.
