Mallie Smith (nee Hall) of Avon Lake passed away at home, on December 26, 2021, after a long illness. She was born on February 23, 1928 in Hall, Kentucky to Town Hall and Mary Yonts (nee Blair).
Mallie working at Aqua Marine Resort started as a waitress and eventually became a manager of the Fairway Lounge. She left there to work for the Avon Lake Schools as the chief cook for many of the schools. She worked there from 1980 to 2008 when she retired at the age of 80.
Mallie had many friends and had a very active social life. She loved to entertain friends and family in her home, was an avid golfer, liked to travel and visit the casinos. She was a member of the American Legion Post 211, VFW 557 and AMVETS 55.
Mallie is survived by her son Jack (Kathy) Hall of N. Ridgeville and daughter Shirlie Garcia of Lorain. Stepchildren Terry Smith of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Sherry Smith of Cleveland. Brothers, Leon Hall, Larry Hall, both of Kite Ky. Sisters Lois Bentley, of Kite Ky. and Joyce Hall of Indianapolis In. She is also survived by19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 25 great, great grandchildren.
Mallie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Smith and former husband, Elmer Hall. Also preceding her in death were her daughters Kathleen Maldonado, Marilyn Torres, and Janice Walker. Grandchild William Maldonado and great grandchildren Kadesha Ross, Christopher Knick, and Sara White. Sisters Hassie Short, Allie Wright, Wilma Bentley and Eula Ann Short.
Friends may call Thursday December 30, 2021 from 11:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm at the Busch Funeral Home on 163 Avon-Belden (RT. 83) Avon Lake, Ohio. Jack M. Hall, grandson, will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve or the charity of ones choice.
