Kenneth Earl Schad, age 86, quietly left this world on January 5, 2022, in the arms of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Although he left us quietly, the impact he left on this world will forever loudly proclaim the love & glory of God. Born on January 29, 1935, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Earl Henry & Lottie Margaret (nee Spence) Schad, Kenn & his sister, Janice spent their childhood years in Chardon, Ohio. Kenn graduated from Chardon High School in 1953 & entered the US Army, proudly serving his country on active duty for 3 years.
Kenn lived his life with a servant's heart & an abiding love for the Lord. He was a beautiful example of the sacrificial love of Christ, raising six children to know the love of Jesus & teaching them to share that love with others. He lived a humble & simple life, treating everyone he encountered with grace, mercy & compassion. He recognized & acknowledged the image of Christ in each person he met, always putting the needs & welfare of others before his own.
His lifelong motto & mission was to "help the people" & he delighted in helping anyone he could at every opportunity. For many years Kenn served the church as a deacon during which time he especially loved visiting with the sick & ministering to anyone in need of the compassion of Christ. He never missed an opportunity to encourage a stranger or to let those he encountered know that they were loved & valued.
Kenn especially loved dogs. He found much joy in God's creatures & creation. In his later years, as dementia robbed him of his memory & the ability to express himself well verbally, Kenn clearly showed us how to see God's gifts & blessings in wonder, through the eyes of a child - he became an avid cloud admirer, frequently marveled at how shiny the top of a loaf of bread in the package looked to him & was mesmerized by the endless containers of colorful candies on the shelves at the market. He never forgot who Jesus is & he loved to remind us to "help the people". His sense of humor never failed & his infectious smile was a blessing to us all.
Most dear to Kenn was his family. He loved his wife, Gladys, with all his heart. He cherished his children & spent countless hours enjoying scouting, sports, & family activities with them through the years. He adored his grandchildren & spent as much time with them as he was able.
He was thrilled to be a great grandpa. Kenn leaves with us a legacy of great love, selfless service, humility, & uncommon kindness. & the precious reminder of the everpresent love of Christ in our lives.
Kenn is survived by his wife Gladys Quintana-Schad, children - Kim Schad (Paul Provencher), Karen Walker (Ron), Debbie Walker (Rocko), Laura Fisher (Keith), David Schad (Heidi),Tim Schad (Melanie), grandchildren - Caitlin, Nate, Tori, Joshua, Matthew, Alec, Leigha, Jessica, Jeffrey, Tyler, Abby, Emma, Raven, Areya, Peyton, MacKenzie, Katrina, Jo, Ty, Gavin, Calvin & Natalia & 10 great grandchildren.
