Kenneth Ronald Mazer, age 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.
Beloved husband of 36 years of Jean Mazer (nee Bubnick); loving step-father of John D. Kaniecki, Jr. (Michelle) and Jennifer Sheehan (Timothy) and Papa Kenny to Maggie and Ben Kaniecki and Caitlin Sheehan; brother of Stephan, Jr. (deceased), Leroy (Gloria) and Eugene (Linda); uncle of many nieces and nephews; and dearest friend of Gary Winney and Pan Theophylactos (decesed).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Irene (nee Niemitz) Mazer.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He earned his Master's Degree in Education from Cleveland State, and worked as a math instructor at Lakeland Community College for over 25 years, and a math teacher at Wickliffe Middle School, where he also worked as a wrestling coach and school photographer, and ran the clock at basketball and football games, retiring after over 30 years. He loved to help people, volunteering at the VA Hospital, and also serving as a volunteer lay person for Parkside Church.
He was a longtime member of the Cleveland Playhouse Square Assoc., as well as a longtime holder of Cleveland Indians season tickets. He was a proud member of the Johnson's Island Property Owner's Assoc., and an accomplished pianist, having taken lessons at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
A scholarship fund is being set up at Wickliffe City Schools in Kenneth's memory and contributions can be made through his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at 1:00pm at Babitt-Busch Funeral Home, 9350 Ridge Rd., N. Royalton, OH 44133, where the family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service. The family would also like to invite friends to join them for a luncheon immediately following the service.
