Joyce Schwarz

Joyce Marie Thomas was born June 18, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. She went to be with the Lord peacefully December, 12, 2022 at age 84.

She married Thomas William Schwarz on September 7, 1957. They were married for 53 years until Tom's death in 2010.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Cynthia (David) Calfee, daughter Sandra (John) Mudgett and son Stephen (Shelly) Schwarz. Grandchildren Jessica and Matthew Mudgett, Tyler and Corey Schwarz. Brothers Ron Thomas and John (Deborah) Polomsky and sister Janice Polomsky.

Preceding her in death were her husband Thomas, his parents William and Irene Schwarz, her father Jack Thomas, her mother Grace Polomsky and stepfather John Polomsky.

She was "Grandma Joyce" to everyone she met and doted on her four grandchildren. Joyce also enjoyed selling Avon to her friends and neighbors, and many of her paychecks went to buy her grandchildren presents. Christmas was especially fun with huge gift bags for each grandchild. Oh what a joy it was to be Joyce's grandkid!

Joyce was affectionately known as the "fuchsia lady," because fuchsia was her favorite color. It would be a dreary day unless Joyce had on something fuchsia. The color matched her personality: bright, cheerful, friendly, lively and fun loving.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Parma Hospital (8th floor) and medical personnel at Holy Family Hospice Care in Parma, for their kindness and excellent care of Joyce.

Donations in Joyce's honor may be made to the Children's Ministry at Cuyahoga Valley Church, Broadview Heights, Ohio.

A "CELEBRATION OF LIFE" will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11am at Cuyahoga Valley Church, 5055 E. Wallings Road, Broadview Hts.,Ohio. (440-746-0404).
