Helen Murray (nee Izworski), age 99, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was born in Lorain, Ohio on January 2, 1923 to Stanley and Mary Izworski.
Helen attended Nativity School while her family lived in Lorain, then the family moved to Brighton, and then back to Lorain after her father's passing when she was sixteen. She was the supervisor of cake decorating at Spang's Bakery.
Helen met Bill at the Coliseum Roller Rink and they were married on March 4, 1944. They enjoyed traveling to Canada and drove across the country to visit relatives in California. They spent the winters golfing in Florida. Helen raised her family on the east side of Lorain where she was active in the women's group at St. Anthony's Church and helped with bingo. She moved to Avon Lake in 1977 and was active at St. Joseph's Church, a member of Circle 5, cleaned the church sanctuary and helped with the school's hot lunch program and other activities.
Helen's passion was bowling, she bowled 3 times a week and bowled until age 89. She was secretary/treasurer of the Happy Bunch League at Rebman's for 14 years and was inducted into the Lorain County Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Helen also enjoyed golfing on leagues at Sweetbriar and Bob-o-Link. She was a member of Lively Avon Lakers and enjoyed activities at the senior center. She played bingo 3 times a week and enjoyed playing cards.
Helen's family was most important, she enjoyed attending all the parties, picnics and teaching her grandchildren how to play Hand & Foot, Pokeno and Uno.
Helen is survived by her loving children Nancy Wolf (Chris), and Bill Murray (Judy); grandchildren Robert Blatnick, Daryl Blatnick (Dawn), Justin Blatnick, Kerry Kaminski (Scott), and Kristie Oldham (Chris); 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Beverly Izworski. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years William Murray; her parents; brothers Joseph and Donald Izworski and sisters, Florence Izworski, Veronica Dembiec, Therese Randolph and Dorothy Kastler.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00pm at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32946 Electric Blvd, Avon Lake.
