Gregory Robert Falke died peacefully on Tuesday May 3rd, 2022 at the age of 67 in Avon, Ohio surrounded by loved ones.
Rob was born in Modesto, CA on August 27, 1954 to Walter Nelson Falke and Afton Darlin Falke (Watson). He married the love of his life, Robin Lea (nee McCleskey) on June 18, 1977. “Robby” as Robin called him was also the love of her life. They have been married 45 years and were blessed to travel a lot during their marriage. His top priority was always family and church. He truly loved people and serving.
“Bishop Falke” was a bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 10 years, and shall forever be one of the greatest members of The Church that the members who knew him have ever had the pleasure of working with. His unfailing efforts no doubt contributed to Cleveland getting a temple, and his example of love and service has always been an inspiration. While we grieve and pray, we know that family is forever, life is eternal through Jesus Christ, and someday we will all meet again.
Rob was a friend and inspiration to everyone he met, and he had a magical way of making every person feel special. He will truly be missed and will always be remembered for his goodness and joy he brought to all.
He was a leader in the HVAC industry. For more than two decades he has been a major driver in teaching tens of thousands of HVAC professionals about the importance of air balancing and diagnostics.
Rob founded and chaired an ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) committee to create and publish ASHRAE Standard 221 which has set the standard for measuring installed HVAC system performance. He spent four years leading the committee of engineers and industry professionals to the successful acceptance and publication of the Standard in 2020.
A prolific writer, Rob published hundreds of articles, technical procedures and reports during his career serving the air conditioning and heating industry.
As President of National Comfort Institute, he led the company’s curriculum development team and managed NCI’s technical instructors. He was loved and respected by all those who he touched with his humble and gracious spirit of teaching and coaching.
He is survived by Robin and their four loving children: Ryan Robert (Stephanie Inez (nee Haag), Bradley Robert (Maylin (nee Medeiros), Molly Lea Houx (Mark Richard Gene), and Jaime Lea Forsyth (Eric Spencer); as well as his dear mother Afton and two brothers: Bradley Kent (Kristy (nee Anderson) and Matthew Jay (Dorothy (nee Huckstep); cherished grandchildren Galla Falke, Magnus Finn Falke, Connor Ryan Falke, Everly Paisley Falke, Addison Inez Falke, Ryken Mann Falke, Brooklyn Inez Falke, Henry Spencer Forsyth, Amelia Jean Houx, Taylor Inez Falke, Nikolai Thomas Houx, and Pepper Lea Forsyth.
He is preceded in death by his brother Steven Scott Falke and his father Walter Nelson Falke.
