EDWARD J. KOSIBA, age 96. Birth, February 19, 1926. Deceased, April 11, 2022. Preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife of 63 years, Elaine L. Kosiba. Devoted and loving father of Gary (Deborah), Linda Augustin (Ron), Cindy Tripoulas (Nicholas, deceased) and Denise Patterson (Tom); cherished grandfather of Michele (Jeff), Jason (Jackie), Melissa (Bob), Elaine, Emily and Laurel; great-grandfather of seven; beloved brother of Helen Cooke and Josephine Saiter (deceased); dear brother-in-law of Thad Cooke (deceased) and adored uncle of many. Last residence, Broadview Heights, Ohio. Member of P.L.A.V. Post 157. Ed was a proud veteran of World War II, having served honorably in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Dobbin, a destroyer tender, in New Guinea and the Philippines. He often reminisced of his adventures (and misadventures), the life-long friendships created, and the hardships endured while serving his country. Ed was passionate about fancy cars, old and new, and treasured the exhaustive and lengthy list he kept of all the cars he owned through his lifetime, from brand new Lincoln Continentals to a 1937 Buick Century which he was lovingly restoring before his decline in health. His passion for cars led Ed to become an auto technician and the proud owner of a repair business. Ed shared his technical knowledge by mentoring many in auto repair and, as a result, earned the title "professor". Ed was also a compassionate spouse and loving father. Every weekend, he would take his young children to Lake Erie just to walk around and share some fun time, including frequent walks around Captain Frank's on the 9th Street Pier. We knew that in addition to sharing some fun with his children, Ed also knew that Elaine would be enjoying her "alone" time without the children. Ed and Elaine shared their love of travel with their children through cross-country trips, relishing as many national parks and unique tourist attractions as possible. These cross-country trips, and their love for the Southwest, prompted Ed's and Elaine's multiple moves from Ohio to Phoenix and Scottsdale, but their love and devotion to family and friends always pulled them each time back to Ohio. Ed maintained a lifelong fondness for the Catholic Community of St. Basil the Great Church in Brecksville, Ohio. Ed will be remembered by his children for his endless support and guidance, love of fancy cars and everything Western, pride in his wife and children, and devotion to the P.L.A.V., the PGA Tour, and Cleveland baseball and football. Ed will be loved and missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. He will be missed immeasurably, but his children, family and friends rejoice in knowing he is reunited and a''t peace with the love of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Basil the Great Church, 8700 Brecksville Rd, Brecksville, OH 44144 or Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH.
