Dorothea Lillian Greene (nee Burns), age 81, passed away February 28, 2022. Born to the late Ercell and Evelyn (nee Perkins) Burns on December 24, 1940 in Sanderson, WV. Proud mother of Jennifer (David) Loomis, Vincent (Tamara), Frederick (Mary Beth), Christopher (Elizabeth), and the late Joseph (Brenda). Caring grandmother of Jason (Daniele), Melissa (Jeffrey), Brittney (Joshua), Tabitha (Scott), Breanna, Sean, Christopher, Taylor, Christina, Zachary, Jared, Jade, Hunter, Colton, and the late Jacqueline (Matthew), Joseph and Corey. Great-grandmother of Lillian, Quentin, Dominick, Charlotte, Kaitlin, Caleb, Alannah, Connor, Aidan, Raegan, Fallyn, Travis, Brody, Anderson, Sofia, Payge, Jacob, Madison, Mila, Ezra, Selina, Cayden, Grayson, and the late Olivia. Dear sister of Jackson, Evelyn “Winnie” Morris, Samuel (Dottie), and the late Kenneth, James "Bill", and Elizabeth. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
After a long life and through a road marked with suffering and sadness, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, brothers, and sister who all brought her much joy and happiness in life, Dorothea Lillian Greene passed away peacefully from this life into the presence of her Creator and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dorothea didn't go to heaven because she died. She didn't go to heaven because she was a good person or a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, or daughter. She didn't go to heaven because she was kind and gave all she had to help others in need, choosing instead to do without for herself. She didn't go to heaven because she was a hard worker and did a good job for her employer all the days of her career. Yes, it's true that she was all the above and so much more, but none of those things merited her heaven. None of those things took away the stain and guilt of her sin.
Dorothea went to heaven because of the grace and mercy of God and because she put her faith in Jesus to forgive her sins and to grant her life eternal even though she died. Believing that Jesus is the Son of God who took her sins away at the cross and who rose again from the dead to give her life and the hope of heaven.
