Carolyn Y. Vines (nee Corprew), 87, of Elyria, formerly of Cleveland; beloved mother of Michael Vines, Sr. (Donna) of Lorain and James Vines, Sr. (Artnetta) of Elyria; loving grandmother of 9; great-grandmother of many; sister of Elbert Corprew of Washington DC and Larry Corprew of Alexander City, AL.; aunt of a host of nieces and nephews; and friend to all. Carolyn passed away following a wonderful life on September 18, 2022, at her home.
Carolyn was born on October 21, 1934, in Alexander City, AL to parents Jake Sr. and Ethel (nee Holly) Corprew. Carolyn worked at the Joseph Feiss Company in Cleveland as a seamstress for 30 years. After retiring she worked parttime at Dillard’s Department Store at the Beachwood Mall for 17 years, then she became a caregiver for her sister, Mary.
Carolyn loved spending time outside working in her yard and especially, loved caring for her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Christian Hope Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Vines, parents, siblings Jake Corprew, Jr., and Mary Ethel Corprew.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 11am-12pm at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, 614 West River Rd., Elyria, funeral service to follow at 12pm. Reverend Calvin Curry to officiate.
