Alma Jane Gedeon (Van Deusen)
Long-time resident of North Royalton Alma Jane (Van Deusen) Gedeon passed away peacefully on May 10, 2022 at The Grande in Hudson at the age of 94. Alma was born on December 21, 1927 on a farm in Hinckley, Ohio the fourth child to Ora and Ina Van Deusen. Her sibling's; Roy, Milo, Ruth and Edna have preceded her in death. She was married to William Edward Gedeon for 45 years. Together they built a house in North Royalton and made it a home for their five children David (deceased), Cyndy (Jim Liptak), Amy (deceased) (Paul Carter), Barbara (Barry Newton) and Eric (Kris). Alma was blessed with six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the North Royalton United Methodist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and later as a trustee. Gardening was one of her passions and she especially enjoyed her flowers, contributing many years of service as a member of the North Royalton Garden Club. She was an artist creating beautiful paintings on porcelain and was a member of the Northeast Ohio China Painting Club. A part-time job at May Company at the Parmatown Mall helped to pay for her hobbies. She loved to lose herself in a good mystery book and was a frequent patron of the library. The family always had pets but she adored her late in life dogs, Sandy and Roxie. Memorial donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes at JDRF.org.
